Return of Good Old Days At the Hatada House duo recital of Mr.Masayuki Kino(violinist) and Mr.Hikaru Yoshiyama(pianist) Poem by Ms. Kikuko Matsui from Oimazato, Osaka City (Reproduced in English from the Japanese issue published August 6, 2006 http://culture-h.jp/hatadake-katsuyo/bun18.html We wish to thank Ms. Reiko Seymour for refining the original translation by Mr. Susumu Kuwabara.) (September 9, 2006) In the garden stand large evergreens proud of the past that sped away Bright sunshine abounds on the wide-open hallway Today is an auspicious day with many happy people gathering The duo by Masayuki Kino and Hikaru Yoshiyama enchants us all in a perfect harmony Turning into echoes, resonating mellowly Two tones of violin and piano rise up into the dark ceilings And fall back on all of us like a shower of silver Shigeo Watanabe, once a prodigy, full of glory and grief in life Koichi Kishi, a leading violinist who gave up so young a life Their works are most suited for today’s recital Like tasting the wine aged for years in the wooden cask We are intoxicated with full body of sounds forgetting time Spirits abiding on the beams are dancing cheerfully The jet-black wooden mainstay shines ever more gloriously A collaboration of sounds of the duo and breathing of quaint, old mansion Brings back memories of good old days |
